Good Reads on Conjure

I picked up a few books recently to add to my collection of magickal books particularly on Conjure magic.
Catherine Yronwodes latest books (with Mikhail Strabo) "The Art Of Hoodoo Candle Magic In Rootwork, Conjure, And Spiritual Church Services" and "Throwing The Bones How to Foretell the Future with Bones, Shells, and Nuts", and Starr Casas' newest book "The Conjure Workbook Volume 1 Working The Root". I flew right through these books in less than a week they were so good. :)
I thought I would go ahead and put out there some good reads for all you Conjuring folks, I do list several on my website, but that thing has issues pulling up in certain browsers so here's a few good ones to get started with if you are just beginning to pick up some books for study. I will give you a brief description of each. I am in no way a critic on books, just a collector of fine reads. The smell of a book and the feel of it in my hands, just makes me feel as good inside as a paintbrush in my hand. Lol. Books are works of art just as any painting. ahhh... Lol. Ok here you go. Beginning with the latest pick ups:

  • "The Art Of Hoodoo Candle Magic In Rootwork, Conjure, And Spiritual Church Services" by Catherine Yronwode and Mikhail Strabo- introduces different styles of candles, dressing, fixing, employing on behalf of yourself or clients, also offers spells used with candle magic, and wraps it up with suggestions on using candles during spiritual church services and candle lighting services for clients. Wonderful addition to my personal collection of candle burning books that i have collected for 24 years. A must have!
  • "Throwing The Bones How to Foretell the Future with Bones, Shells, and Nuts" by Catherine Yronwode- introduces different styles of divination with bones, cowries, nuts, and a variety of others plus divination techniques that include the dilogunn. This book is one of my favorites, she packs some straight to the point info in this little book!
  • "The Conjure Workbook Volume 1 Working The Root" by Starr Casas- everything from mojo packets, oil lamps, dollies, ancestors, saints, and divination, and THEN some. This book covers many of the topics that Old Southern Style Conjurers need to know or refresh on. None of the new age magic that folks are trying to call "hoodoo" here in this book.
  • "Master Book Of Candle Burning" by Henri Gamache- small book about classic candle burning in spells and offers some spells for a variety of issues in love, money, etc. Also details candle color coding. Small book but has some great basics.
  • "Hoodoo Herb and Root Magic: A Materia Magica of African-American Conjure" by
Catherine Yronwode- herb and curio guide as used in traditional southern rootwork. Must have guide when learning about how and which herbs are used in traditional conjure. Along with this book and her website Lucky Mojo you have a chock full of information on traditional conjure.
  • "The Guiding Light to Power and Success A Study of the Use of Candles in the Search for the Truth" by Mikhail Strabo- another older book on candle burning techniques, candle color coding, and use of seals in altar work. Nice book to your collection.
  • "Secrets of the Psalms" by Godfrey Selig- a must have guide to using the psalms in magickal work from love, money, protection, etc. Very useful go to guide to have on hand.
  • "The 6th & 7th Books of Moses Ancient Secrets for a better life"- gives seals to use during magical rituals from love, fortune, to protection. If you are going to do seal work with hoodoo, this is a must have book, there are several versions of the book so choose one that has the seals and descriptions.
  • "Spiritual Cleansing: A Handbook of Psychic Protection" by Draja Mickaharic- a book of techniques on spiritual cleansing. Draja has published a few books on spiritual cleansing all which are useful, this one in particular has several editions with different covers. You really can't go wrong with any of Draja Mickaharic book in my opinion.
  • "Magical Uses for Magnets" by Draja Mickaharic- a basic book on how to use magnets to attract what you want.
  • "Materia Magica" by Draja Mickaharic- a book on herbs used in magic. It is a gem no doubt.
  • "Magical Rituals For Love" by Donna Rose- this book is overlooked, highly! It is a small book, but has some great rituals for basic learning and to get an idea on how to develop your own love rituals.
  • "A Spiritual Worker's Spell Book: by Draja Mickaharic- simple spells and charms for money, jobs, love, and protection. This book, another gem from Draja is nicely laid out with short stories or commentaries on the spells.

These are just a few of the many great books out there right now that are resourceful for conjurers. I have listed many others on my books page my website with the prices and reviews/ratings from Amazon.
