Erzulie Freda Mistress of Love, Beauty, & Femininity

Maitresse Erzulie Freda, one of the most beloved Loas of the Vodou religion is the Loa of Love, Beauty, and Femininity. Similar Spirits or Goddesses from other pantheons include Aphrodite, Isis, Virgin Mary, Lilith, Astarte, Kamadeva, Innana, and Oshun. Although they may seem similar they are not the same spirit or achetype. When working with the Loa, Maitresse Erzulie Freda Dahomey, she requires particular offerings and responds well to extravagant gifts such as pearls, shells, gold and gems, jewelry, a nice feminine french perfume, floral waters, toiletries, and a vanity set. Her offerings are of the finest wines, sweet liquors, special sweet drinks made from cane sugar alcohols, fruits such as melons, french and creole cuisines and fancy deserts. Her altar is adorned in fabrics of fine silk, lace, sequins, in white, pink, pale blues or blues of the Sea. She is lust, sensuality, pleasure and passion, femininity, beauty, love, desire, eloquence, luxuries, glamor, and delicacy, but she should not be taken for a fool or priss, for she is most powerful in her magic and breaks the most powerful wanga, and she is quick to correct her devotee and express her dissatisfaction, which is putting it mildly. She is what resides in every woman. She is the Moon, mysterious, emotional, light and dark. She is a water Loa. She is a cool spirit, or Rada Loa. She is passionate about life and love. She is flirty, loves to dance, loves to
laugh, loves a party, will be the Queen of High Class when she walks in the room, all eyes and attention only for her, AND, her space must be clean and fresh. She has high demands for her perfect world, she can act spoiled and even bitchy. Her horse will find themselves often left in tears. Erzulie weeps from the broken heart of a broken and disappointing world after all. She is the wife of three Loas, Met Ogou, Met Agwe, and Danbala and the Mistress of other Loas. Often you will see images of Mater Dolorosa, or the Virgin Mary on her altars along with her offerings, gifts, and husbands. Her colors are light blue, pink, and white, although she will come to you in other colors depending on her message she is trying to convey to you. The Loa will come to you in dreams to teach you, and so will your Erzulie, to show you what she wants from you as offerings. Erzulie can come to you in dreams as a beautiful mulatto or white woman, (she was a rich white woman, a Queen in her time on earth according to legends), or she will come as one of her other symbolic forms such as a little snake, or something that seems familiar to you that represents feminine beauty. She's the girl who walks past the mirror 50 times a day to just admire her own reflection. She walks with grace and poise. She may even act like the queen of an empire, but has delicate, soft, and luscious skin and features and posture. She will bring her loved ones wealth, beauty, health, protection, and happiness. She can be called to help enhance your magickal skills especially in divination. She shouldn't, however, be called to bring love, as she can bring the love she desires and it usually isn't the one you are compatible with! She can be very jealous as well, can cause complications in a relationship, it's best to keep your private love life out of the path of Erzulie Freda. Where Erzulie is, her husbands should be close by for balance. She seems to be snooty and picky, but she loves GREATLY especially her devotees.
Erzulie Freda is just one of many Erzulies. Each Erzulie has a different face, a different personality. Some other Erzulies are Grann Erzulie, Erzulie Dantor, Erzulie Mansur. Each one is unique, has particular offerings, prayers, and songs.

This is a song for Maitresse Erzulie Freda that you can use for your private workings with her.
